Health For All - Healthy Teens Project

"Helping People Find Healthcare"
Health For All (HFA) is a healthcare-access project designed to link Washington State individuals and families with healthcare resources. Thanks to a grant under CHIPRA (Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act) through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Healthy Teens Project (HTP) is facilitating the enrollment and/or renewal of teens in the 'Apple Health for Kids' WA State Medicaid & CHIP program. HTP works with youth organizations and community agencies throughout WA State that serve teens. HTP provides training and technical assistance to organizations while assisting teens and families to become better informed healthcare consumers. CHECK HTP out on FACEBOOK & TWITTER. The Healthy Teens Project website is www.healthyteensproject.org
The "Healthy Teens Project" is funded by a federal grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Who is Eligible for Coverage through Washington State's Programs?
Income-eligible families, children, teens, pregnant women and individuals who are either uninsured or under-insured may be eligible for coverage through any one of a variety of programs. Some WA State children's programs will wrap around your current health insurance allowing your children or teens, up to their 19th birthday, to have coverage for services not covered by private insurance. Only Washington State (DSHS) can determine a family or individual's eligibility, so we encourage anyone who meets the general income guidelines to apply. The following Medicaid applications are available at the links below. Please print, fill out and return to HFA or take to your local DSHS office. (HFA mailing address is at bottom of page).

Why is having a "Medical Home" Important?
Having a 'Medical Home' (Primary Care Provider/Physician) is important in order to receive proper medical care and to stay healthy. Recently, our communities have seen people lose jobs, health insurance, and consequently, their good health. The Affordable Health Care Act will change many people's lives for the better, but as it unfolds residents will experience intensified needs for health-care access information. We all know the importance of prevention when it comes to healthcare. Regarding children, we know healthy children and teens are more successful in school; therefore, they have a good start at becoming healthy, productive adults. Without a primary provider and healthcare coverage, children and teens are less likely to get the preventive care they need like check-ups, immunizations and screenings. In addition, sick children are the number one reason that parents miss work.
