Health For All
"Helping People Find Healthcare"
Health For All is a healthcare-access project designed to link individuals and families in Eastern Washington with health insurance programs and related resources. Our resource specialists provide assistance with applications and follow-up services that help individuals enroll in health plans and become informed healthcare consumers. We also assist those who do not qualify for state-sponsored coverage by linking them with appropriate community resources.
Who Should Call Health For All?
In Eastern Washington, anyone who is uninsured, underinsured, or has a question about accessing healthcare can call Health for All. If a Health for All resource specialist does not know the answer to a caller's question, she or he will make every effort to refer the caller to someone who can help. Health for All often takes calls from individuals, school nurses, clinic staff, hospitals and other providers in helping link an uninsured or underinsured individual or family to health insurance or important healthcare services.
Health For All serves people from the following Eastern Washington counties: Adams, Asotin, Columbia, Ferry, Garfield, Grant, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens and Whitman.
Why is Health Insurance Important?
Health insurance is important in order to receive proper medical care and stay healthy. Health care services are costly! Having health insurance is the only way most people can afford to seek medical care from doctors, hospitals and other providers. Many employers are unable to offer comprehensive health insurance to employees and their families. This is especially true in small companies and in industries such as construction, food service, hospitality, retail trades, and non-profit organizations. On top of that, many working people are eligible for coverage but don't know it!
Healthy children grow and learn better in school; therefore, they have a good start at becoming healthy, productive adults. Without health insurance, children are less likely to get the preventive care they need like check-ups, immunizations and screenings. In addition to this, sick children are the number one reason that parents miss work.
Who is Eligible for Coverage through Washington State's Programs?
Income-eligible families, children, pregnant women and single adults who are either uninsured or under-insured may receive coverage through any one of a variety of programs. If someone is eligibile for Medicaid and qualifies for additional coverage, it can serve as a "wrap-around" policy to supplement other insurance policies, providing services not covered by the primary insurance. Only Washington State can determine eligibility from an application, and we encourage anyone who meets the general income guidelines to apply.
How Can I Help?
Since 1998, Health For All has helped more than 50,000 people access healthcare. Donations from the community and individuals will enable Health For All to continue its work. Please make checks payable to Community-Minded Enterprises with Health For All in the memo.
